Many thanks to our donors and all the members who made this achievement possible. In mid-April of 2020 we were witnessing the initial dark days of the pandemic and the Suburban Ramsey Emergency Coalition was created to deal with the ever increasing needs of our neighbors. As we discussed a dollar goal for our new organization, we settled on a number which for an untried collaboration of service clubs and community foundations seemed truly ambitious, and, perhaps, a bit far-fetched. We decided on a goal of raising $150,000. Wow! Well, through dedication, hard work, and generosity our goal was accomplished. In fact we raised $163,035, all without a single dollar of administrative expense. Every penny is dedicated to our mission. Of that amount we have thus far disbursed $110,107 through 20 grants to non-profit providers of services to those in need in our area. We continue to solicit, review, and award grant requests to the full amount of funds available.
Unfortunately, the needs continue to be pressing for those impacted by the pandemic. Therefore, our Coalition has decided to continue our efforts for as long as these needs continue. Our fundraising goal for now has been extended to include an additional $100,000. With dedicated effort and the continued generosity of spirit we have experienced thus far, we are confident that the Coalition can continue to meet its goals and respond to the needs of our neighbors. Again, we thank all who have joined us in this most worthwhile effort!
